"AGT Announces Receipt of Federal Funding"
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Feb. 23, 2006 - Atmospheric Glow Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:AGWT) (AGT), has received notification that it will be the recipient of a Congressionally sponsored research and development program for Medical Device Sterilization using its patented atmospheric plasma. The research program, sponsored by Senators Bill Frist and Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, will be conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command. The $1.75 million program will address the difficulties in providing medical device sterilization for highly mobile forces such as Forward Surgical Teams. AGT will work to develop a robust portable sterilization system to meet military needs. This contract will build upon AGT's previous SBIR efforts with the National Institutes of Health and the U. S. EPA. According to AGT's President, Dr. Kimberly Kelly-Wintenberg, "These monies will allow AGT to provide ongoing economic development in East Tennessee while working to provide the military a feasible alternative for portable medical device sterilization."
