The increase in the complexity of medical devices in the recent past has presented a myriad of challenges for those charged with providing sterile surgical instruments. Currently available low temperature sterilization processes have high capital costs and are out of reach for smaller healthcare facilities. The increase in the number of ambulatory surgical centers and dental clinics and the corresponding increase in the need for sterile instrumentation presents a compelling opportunity to provide an economical means of rapidly sterilizing a wide range of devices. Atmospheric Glow Technologies is developing a product to address the needs of this market by providing the Steriglow Sterilization System based upon OAUGDP®. AGT has conducted several contracts with funding from the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the Department of Defense that have routinely demonstrated the ability of OAUGDP® to provide rapid and reliable sterilization. Additional contract funding is currently maturing the development of this device.
